TURN-IN OF STU-III

PROCEDURES:

1. The suspected defective equipment must be inspected and tested by the unit's supporting Direct Support (DS) COMSEC activity. Units which do not have a DS activity must coordinate with the General Support (GS) COMSEC activity in Korea. CLSC-K-MD (CA 5JK303, Cp Coiner) is the only Os support facility in Korea.

2. If it is determined that the equipment is unserviceable and must be returned to TOAD for repair, the repair activity will prepare technical inspection (TI) paperwork and return the equipment and documentation to the user WARNING: TI paperwork is only valid for 90 days.

3. Upon receipt, the user must take the equipment and paperwork to their supply for turn in. The phone must be turned in a complete unit. This include the applicable manufacturers users manual. Essentially, the phone must have all items that it was issued NEW. The exception is the KID-64A, also known as the STU-III key or CIK. DO NOT return the phone with the KS D-64A. Any missing parts must be documented on a "Missing Parts Statement" signed by the Commander of the unit

4. The unit supply will coordinate with their supply point to process the equipment for turn-in. Once a turn-in document has been received, the unit should then submit a requisition to replace the equipment. The requisition must be submitted as an "A05" requisition (using a DA Form 2765). Place an "A" in card column 55 and a "2 in card column 56 to indicate the requisition is for replacement for all item turned in for depot repair. WARNING: If the requisition is not processed as a replacement turn around time for the equipment will be extended and the unit charged for the cost of the new phone. Since the STU-III is a Class VII end item, the unit will not be charged, if a valid TURN-IN document number exists to match the requisition.

5. Once the turn-in and requisition document numbers have been received by your supply, they can contact the equipment managers at USACCSLA, Ft Huachuca, AZ. If TOAD has the equipment available, CCSLA can authorize the release of the FLOAT before the defective equipment arrives at TOAD. If the equipment manager is not contacted, the unit will have to wait until the defective equipment arrives at TOAD before the replacement will be issued. Turn around times are approximate: 1) With authorized release of FLOAT - 6 to S weeks; 2)
